The origins of Phillips Frankel may be traced back to some bottle of Château Léoville Poyferré, ?55, shared between Lisa Phillips and Dr. Robert Frankel on their own first date. Lisa saved the cork and fashioned it in a pendant, adding a 14-karat gold bead and stringing the DIY bauble over a leather cord. Shortly thereafter, the happy couple married and started a family group together. Lisa began using Robert?s dental lab and tools as being a playground to explore her favorite hobby: jewelry design. She caused dental wax, drills, files and filling gold to create one-of-a-kind jewelry, using her newly-born daughter Danielle as her inspiration and later, her model. This passion evolved into a small business, when Danielle graduated from university, the duo began designing together.

Lisa and Danielle didn't set out to build a global jewelry label, but while they designed more, their notoriety grew and word spread quickly among various social and charitable circles. It has not been long before they outgrew that corner in the dental lab, along with 2007, the two officially formed the label Phillips Frankel and opened private design studio and showroom, which proved an enormous success.

Following much anticipation, in Spring 2010, Phillips Frankel released its first publicly-available collection. The launch was featured by fashion?s leading industry authority, Women?s Wear Daily (WWD), as its cover story (Ring It On, April 26, 2010). If there really are just seven original plots in the world, it's odd that boy meets girl is usually mentioned, and society goes bad and attacks the good guy never is. Yet we now have Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, the House from the Scorpion—and now, following a good tradition of Brave New Worlds, The Hunger Games. Collins hasn't tied her future to some specific date, or weighted it down with excessive finger wagging. Rather less 1984 and rather more Death Race 2000, hers can be a gripping story set in a very postapocalyptic world in which a replacement for that Usa demands a tribute from each of the company's territories: two children to become used as gladiators in the televised fight for the death.Katniss, from the thing that was once Appalachia, offers to consider the host to her sister inside Hunger Games, but after this ultimate sacrifice, she is entirely centered on survival at any cost. It is her teammate, Peeta, who recognizes the value of holding to one's humanity in such inhuman circumstances. It's a credit to Collins's skill at characterization that Katniss, like a new Theseus, is cold, calculating whilst still being likable. She has got the attributes being a winner, where Peeta has got the grace to become a great loser.It's no accident that these games are presented as pop culture. Every generation projects its fear: runaway science, communism, overpopulation, nuclear wars and, now, reality TV. Hawaii of Panem—which needs to help keep its tributaries subdued and its citizens complacent—may have created the Games, but mindless television could be the real danger, the means by which society pacifies its citizens and punishes those that neglect to conform. Will its connection to reality TV, ubiquitous today, date the book? It might, but for now, it can make this the best book in the right time. What happens if we choose entertainment over humanity? In Collins's world, we'll be enthusiastic about grooming, we'll talk funny, and all our sentences will end using the same rise as questions. When Katniss is distributed to stylists to get made more telegenic before she competes, she stands naked in front of them, strangely unembarrassed. They're so unlike people that we're you can forget self-conscious than if a trio of oddly colored birds were pecking around my feet, she thinks. In order not to hate these creatures that are sending her to her death, she imagines them as pets. It isn't really only the contestants who risk the loss of the humanity. It is all who watch. This book will definitely resonate with the generation raised on reality shows like 'Survivor' and 'American Gladiator.'
